The club meets two Fridays a month from 2:00 to 3:30, and focuses on reading and discussing manga, watching and discussing anime, manga-style art, cosplay, and learning about Japanese culture (including, but not limited to, the eating of Japanese candy).

If you're interested in joining Anime/Manga Club, come to the library on Friday, April 1, and Friday, April 15. The genre of the month is science fiction, and the screening on Friday, April 15, will be Log Horizon.

April 28 Book Club Pick: The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka

Book Club is reading The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka for the next meeting; all are welcome to join the discussion after school in the library on Thursday, April 28. If you need a copy, speak with Ms. Charpentier, visit the Uxbridge Free Public Library, or download an eBook from Project Gutenberg or audiobook from LibriVox.

From Goodreads: "As Gregor Samsa awoke one morning from uneasy dreams he found himself transformed in his bed into a gigantic insect. With this startling, bizarre, yet surprisingly funny first opening, Kafka begins his masterpiece. It is the story of a young man who, transformed overnight into a giant beetle-like insect, becomes an object of disgrace to his family, an outsider in his own home, a quintessentially alienated man. A harrowing -- though absurdly comic -- meditation on human feelings of inadequacy, guilt, and isolation, The Metamorphosis has taken its place as one of the most widely read and influential works of twentieth-century fiction."

Join Book Club again next month on Thursday, May 26, to discuss Fat Kid Rules the World by K.L. Going.

If you liked the March Book Club pick, Halo by Alexandra Adornetto, check out some recommended similar books on display in the library and on Pinterest.
