Banned Books Week

This week, celebrate your freedom to read. The theme for this year's week raising awareness of censorship is "Discover What You're Missing." Check out this list of the most frequently challenged books of 2012 - many of them are books that discuss upsetting or controversial topics, but think about what it would mean if it really was taboo to write, read, or talk about the tough subjects those books address.

Banning books stops conversation and censors ideas before they reach readers. This week, think about what you'd be missing if the books that have made you think differently about the world were banned.
