Banned Books Week

This week, celebrate your freedom to read. The theme for this year's week raising awareness of censorship is "Discover What You're Missing." Check out this list of the most frequently challenged books of 2012 - many of them are books that discuss upsetting or controversial topics, but think about what it would mean if it really was taboo to write, read, or talk about the tough subjects those books address.

Banning books stops conversation and censors ideas before they reach readers. This week, think about what you'd be missing if the books that have made you think differently about the world were banned.

For more information about banned and challenged books, visit the Banned Books Week website.

October Book Club: Will Grayson, Will Grayson

The first selection for book club this year is Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green and David Levithan. We'll meet to discuss it in the library on Thursday, October 17 at 2:05.

From the back of the book: "One cold night, in a most unlikely corner of Chicago, two teens—both named Will Grayson—are about to cross paths. As their worlds collide and intertwine, the Will Graysons find their lives going in new and unexpected directions, building toward romantic turns-of-heart and the epic production of history’s most fabulous high school musical."

Come join us; all are welcome!
