If you've enjoyed playing with the online collections from the Digital Public Library of America (DPLA), Digital Commonwealth is another online collections project to check out.
Libraries, archives, historical societies, and museums that want to share their digital collections online can upload them to the site themselves, or the Boston Public Library will digitize them. The result is a collection cultural and historical items from Massachusetts that is searchable by place. Searching for "Uxbridge" in the Digital Commonwealth returns 20 photographs, 3 maps, and 1 document all related to our local history.
The project is beginning to post lesson plans using their materials as well.
